Performance

Performance for schools

Performance is a wide-ranging topic within our HR zone relating to the performance of schools and their staff. Topics include organisation change, staff performance and capability toolkits to assist with the process. For conduct and discipline or grievance issues, there is information available on meditation and the availability of hearing packs should the process go ahead.

Managing change

This page offers guidance and information around the adoption of new policies; redundancy offers for workers of different age groups and a reorganisation toolkit for schools facing a major organisational change, with toolkits available for schools to use undertaking the endeavour.

Managing performance

Performance relates to performance management for school staff with the guiding principles that performance standards are expected and are reasonable and achievable. As well as an appraisal guide, there is also a personal development plan for workers that can be used to manage performance. The capability toolkit resource helps employees and teachers know what the expected objectives and standards are for staff and what a potential dismissal or appeals process would entail.

Conduct and discipline

Our conduct and discipline zone has a selection of appendices and model letters for dealing with below-accepted levels of conduct for Buckinghamshire employees. There is also relevant information on anti-harassment and anti-bullying procedures, grievances of school employees, close relationships in the workplace, whistleblowing protocols and guidance on substance misuse.

Mediation

The process of having a mediator is designed to resolve conflicts and disputes. Our quick-access leaflet answers some commonly asked questions on how and when a mediator can be deployed and when it wouldn't be appropriate.

Hearing packs

This information relates to a confidential service offered by Buckinghamshire Council to assist with hearings related to conduct and discipline issues and grievance hearings.
