Background
Governing boards are responsible for ensuring that admissions (and attendance) registers are maintained, but the register itself can be kept by appropriate school staff.
A pupil is placed on the admission register on the first day he/she is expected to attend.
Approval
The governing board is free to delegate to a committee of the governing board, an individual governor or the head teacher or the proprietor must 'cause to be kept' a register.
The register itself can be kept by appropriate school staff.
