Annual review strategy

Due to the volume of EHCPs we currently maintain, we have worked with schools and families to co-produce an Annual Review Strategy. The strategy aims to ensure review meetings are held, and any amendments made to EHCPs, within a timely fashion. We are aware that we are not always doing this in a timely fashion, and the strategy aims to prioritise those that require their plans amending so as not to affect the continuity of their education. The Strategy highlights the following:

priority 1: vulnerable groups (those with a social worker, not in an education setting, suffering or at risk of exclusion and others)
priority 2: phase transfers (starting school, moving to secondary or to college for the first time)
priority 3: overdue for 2 years or more
priority 4: under 5s (these reviews should be held every six months with a focus on school readiness)
