BASL Conference 2026

The Buckinghamshire Academy of School Leadership (BASL), in partnership with Buckinghamshire Council, are pleased to present the 2026 Annual BASL Conference for School Leaders, to be held at the Crowne Plaza, Stratford-Upon-Avon on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th March 2026.

This is an opportunity to hear inspirational guest speakers, network with fellow Headteachers, both primary and secondary and to visit an exhibition of companies and teams that supply and support our schools.

The theme this year is Resilience, Innovation and a Different Perspective.  

Speakers attending are:


Thursday 19th March

  • Hywel Roberts - Botheredness® sums up the kind of authentic care and adult positioning that is real and deliberate and gets children and young people on board with learning. Hywel Roberts has coined the phrase as the holy grail of teaching, something that will both significantly improve your enjoyment of teaching and benefit your classes enormously.

  • Alex Quigley - Blogger and author of Why Learning Fails, Closing the Gap series, and The Confident Teacher. With 15+ years in the classroom, Alex is now working with an educational charity to support teachers and tackle inequality through evidence-based practice.


  • Paul McGee - Internationally renowned motivational speaker and bestselling author. Expert in change, resilience, leadership, and wellbeing. Paul is the creator of the SUMO philosophy, Shut Up, Move On, blending psychology, humour, and practical advice to inspire over a million people across 40+ countries.

 

Friday 20th March

  • Tom Sherrington - Respected CPD leader with 30 years’ experience as a teacher and headteacher in the UK and abroad. Author of teacherhead.com and a regular speaker at major education events, Tom combines research insights with real classroom practice to inspire and challenge.


  • Sir Jason Kenny Britian's most celebrated Olympian - Sir Jason Kenny is the most successful British Olympian and cyclist in history. Known for his speed, humility, and record-breaking performances, he now coaches the next generation of elite sprinters. His legacy continues to inspire athletes across the UK and beyond.
