Community Paediatrics
Community Paediatrics
Schools can refer children and young people to their local Community Paediatrician if they have a Buckinghamshire GP.
Information on making a referral can be found on the Bucks Healthcare children and young people's website. If the child’s GP is from another county, then they'll see the paediatrician in that county.
The Community Paediatric Team provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, support and monitoring for children with a range of complex needs and disabilities such as cerebral palsy, autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
They offer specialist assessment for looked after children, child protection, and school health as part of the Education Health and Care Needs Assessment.
Neurodevelopmental diagnostic assessments for children under 5 years are provided by the Community Paediatricians.
For children and young people (5 to 18 years) these are offered through the neuro-collaborative pathway which is a partnership between CAMHS and the Community Paediatricians.
The team work closely with other health professionals including:
- Children and young people's therapies
- Health Visitors and the School Nursing Team
- Children with disabilities nursing team
- Paediatric Dieticians
