Supporting children with a parent in prison
This session will introduce the topic of parental imprisonment and how children are impacted by this. The session will look at the challenges children face when they experience a parent in prison, how they might be impacted, as well as explore what behaviours you might see in school. It will also provide guidance on what good practise may look like in an education setting to best support these children.
Outcomes:
- Gain an understanding of what life might look like for a child experiencing a parent in prison
- Understand the impacts, both physically and mentally on a child that has a parent in prison.
- Identify what support may look like within an education setting
- Explore resources that can help prepare children for having a parent in prison.
