Leadership Development Workshops 2024 - 2025
The 2024- 25 programme of Leadership Development Workshops offers Senior Leaders and staff the opportunity to hear from nationally recognised speakers on topics of current interest such as well-being, flexible working, Ai, SEN/inclusion and targeted areas of effective leadership.
These subjects and speakers are suggested by Buckinghamshire Headteachers and are appropriate for all members of SLT. There is also the opportunity to network with colleagues at face-to-face events from primary, secondary and special schools.
Members of the BASL Board, experienced Headteachers in Bucks, alongside members of the School Improvement Team will also attend each event.

4th October 9.30 -12pm Being your Best Self and your Best Team with Joe Sparks – Holiday Inn Aylesbury Bucks
Former Founder and CEO of a successful Non-profit company, Joe is a Coach, Speaker and Leadership Thinker.
A regular contributor for PiXL, he speaks at national conferences and writes resources and strategies for leaders across the UK.
When not working, you’ll find Joe in a van with his dogs, surfing or growing vegetables, he is passionate about the outdoor lifestyle and the benefits of being in nature.
He is a Trustee of an NGO in Ghana supporting leaders to thrive in difficult circumstances, there he oversees a regenerative farming project and coaches a team of people helping over 2000 people find a better life.

Topic: Wellbeing with DR Emma Kell
The BASL board are pleased to welcome Emma Kell. She is director of Those That Can Ltd with 26 years of experience as a teacher and leader in UK schools. Through Those That Can, she works with professionals within and beyond the world of education to provide research-based, practical sessions to promote wellbeing and effectiveness and stakeholder engagement.
She is a qualified Performance Coach and experienced speaker and facilitator. Emma writes for a variety of publications including TES and BBC Teach.
She has completed a doctorate on teacher well-being and parenting at Middlesex University and is author of How To Survive in Teaching (Bloomsbury, 2018) and A Little Guide For Teachers: Wellbeing and Self-Care and A Little Guide for Teachers: Engaging Parents and Carers.
