Bikeability Training
Bikeability is the leading cycle training programme in England.
Courses are available throughout the year in most local authorities in England. Children and adults can be trained individually or in groups, through school, clubs, or private tuition.
Bikeability terms and conditions
Buckinghamshire Council has been awarded funding for Bikeability training to take place at your school.
Schools need to bid for funding the term before their training course is due to take place – e.g., apply for funding in the summer term for a training course being held in the autumn term.
Bikeability funding window
The funding window will open in the first two weeks of a new school term for schools to apply for training places for the following term.
Current funding is for the following Levels of training:
Bikeability Balance
For children in Reception, Years 1 and 2 at a cost of £28 per place. The school/parent will need to pay a £5 administration fee to their chosen Provider. Buckinghamshire Council will fund the remaining £23.00.
Funding for this module is extremely limited.
Learn to Ride
For children who can balance on a bike but not yet ride at a cost £28 per training place. The school/parent will need to pay a £5 administration fee to their chosen Provider. Buckinghamshire Council will fund the remaining £23.
Level 1
For children in Years 3 and 4 at a cost of £12 per place. The school/parent will need to pay a £5 administration fee to their chosen Provider. Buckinghamshire Council will fund the remaining £7.
Level 1 / 2 Combined
For children in Year 5 and onwards, provided at a cost of £55.00 per place. The school/parent will need to pay a £10 administration fee to the chosen Provider. Buckinghamshire Council will fund the remaining £45.
Level 2 is for children in Years 5 and 6 and can be offered to years 7 and 8 at secondary school level, at a cost of £55.00 per place. The school/parent will need to pay a £10 administration fee to the chosen Provider. Buckinghamshire Council will fund the remaining £45.
Level 3 is for children in Years 7 and 8 at secondary school level, at a cost of £55.00 per place. The school/parent will need to pay a £10 administration fee to the chosen Provider. Buckinghamshire Council will fund the remaining £45.
