Support for Schools- Funded and discounted EAL Training
Since the start of the conflict over 540 Ukrainian children and young people have moved to Buckinghamshire, the vast majority of whom are now attending Buckinghamshire schools. In addition, county-wide admissions data shows an increasingly wide range of countries from which pupils are moving to Buckinghamshire. Research evidence highlights the crucial importance of proficiency in English as a key predictor of educational outcomes. Ensuring pupils who use EAL have full accessibility to a high-quality and ambitious curriculum means schools need to establish appropriate systems and structures to ensure learners get the support they need.
Buckinghamshire Council have partnered with The Bell Foundation, leading experts in teaching pupils who use EAL, to deliver a comprehensive and bespoke package of high-quality and evidence informed professional development in EAL for Buckinghamshire Schools. This funded training programme has courses suited to all members of staff involved in working with learners who use EAL, from classroom practitioners through to EAL Co-ordinators and School Leaders, and aims to build the confidence and expertise in staff to provide impactful support. The training programme is for all schools, regardless of whether you are have an established EAL cohort or whether you are seeing now increasing numbers of EAL pupils moving to your school.
Funding is being provided for both:
- Fully funded Buckinghamshire courses for Buckinghamshire schools – a range of courses to meet core EAL training needs, both online and in person training.
- Discounted rates for Buckinghamshire schools to access The Bell Foundation national online courses – only £20 per delegate.
Please see the below flyer for all information on the courses available with booking links, as well as signposting to a host of free resources and training from The Bell Foundation.
