Supported Internship
For many learners with an EHCP, a Supported Internship is likely to be the best way to find a route into employment.
What is a supported internship
- Work-based learning placements within mainstream employment settings.
- The aim is to secure a job at the end of the placement. The last year of the CYP’s EHCP.
- Placements should last over six months and would usually be at least 20 hours per week.
- Bespoke for each intern.
- Opportunity to study Maths and English at Entry 3 to Level 2.
- Bitesize training in life skills such as digital skills, self-management, and communication skills.
- Job roles may include:
- office admin
- portering
- catering
- housekeeping
- reception
- IT
- early-years
- animal care
Eligibility criteria
- Aged 17 to 24 with a learning disability or autism.
- Have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).
- Working at Entry Level 2/3. Level 1 Functional Skills.
- Independent traveller or working towards this.
