Employment

  • Young person (YP) has developed the appropriate communication and interaction skills to allow successful access to the following as required:
  • further / higher education, apprenticeships, internships, traineeships.
  • YP has developed the appropriate communication and interaction skills to allow the development of relationships with peers. These peers could be within the workplace/education environments and promote emotional wellbeing.
  • YP can show appropriate communication skills. Both written or verbal. This is to enable successful applications for jobs or higher education.
  • YP is able to respond appropriately to questions. They display the communication skills required to present their skills and attributes within an interview situation.

Independence

  • Young person (YP) has developed the communication and interaction skills to take part in residential and local learning options.
  • YP has developed the communication and interaction skills to facilitate independent living. For example, shopping and travel.
  • YP has developed the communication and interaction skills to enable them to discuss their views and opinions about future living arrangements.
  • YP can access information relating to travel and transport to facilitate independent travel appropriate to individual circumstances.

Community inclusion

  • Young person (YP) demonstrates appropriate communication and interaction skills to be able to access community, leisure and social activities.
  • YP is able to communicate their choices and preferences to ensure their wellbeing within the community.
  • YP shows appropriate communication and interaction skills to engage in voluntary work and/or community-based projects/initiatives.
  • YP is able to communicate with relevant agencies and /or emergency services.

Health

  • Young Person (YP) can access information relating to relevant health services to maintain good health.
  • YP is able to show responsibility for dental, medical and optical appointments. They communicate their needs and interact with appropriate staff to arrange these.
  • YP has developed the communication and interaction skills necessary (in the context of individual circumstances) to articulate health concerns/needs to relevant health professionals during appointments.
