Buckinghamshire Schools Library Service offers a comprehensive and flexible resource and advisory service to all phases of education, from nursery to post-16. Our service is available to schools and educational settings both within Buckinghamshire and neighbouring counties.
Our dedicated staff have many years’ experience of working with schools and can offer professional, friendly advice and practical support on all aspects of library resource provision.
Our service provides the termly hire of project collections.
A project collection is a box of 20 books which support the teaching of the curriculum in the classroom. Each box is individually made up to the needs of the teachers and age range/ ability level of pupils. Books can be non-fiction, fiction or an amalgamation of the two. The average price of a children’s book is now approximately £9.92, making each project box worth around £200. Our packages mean that you can borrow a box for less than £60.
With subscription schools benefit from 30% discount on their own book orders and books are delivered free of charge to your school.
Get hands on with artefact boxes
Bring learning to life with our ever growing range of artefact collections. These are available for a 4 week period and include free delivery and collection. They range from a World War 2 Evacuee’s suitcase to an experience of Stone Age Life.
Our professional consultancy offers:
• support Ofsted inspections by devising school library policies and development plans
• catalogue stock remotely so that books arrive ready for your shelves
• weed out of date books and help with organising your library
If you can’t find a package that meets your individual schools’ needs, we are happy to discuss your requirements with you and come up with a suitable alternative.
The majority of our services are also available on a Pay as Used (PAU) basis which gives all schools the opportunity to make use of our resources. Members of the School Library Service, however, do receive a discount on any PAU services they wish to purchase.
